Linking Lifestyle to Multiculturalism in Australia

Introduction

Australia is a great place for travellers. It’s got everything you could want: amazing sights, great food and drink, friendly people… and more. But one thing that makes Australia stand out from other countries is its multiculturalism. If you’re planning your first trip to Australia, here are some tips about how to experience this side of the country as well as other aspects of travel in Oz.

Why walk when you can travel?

Traveling is the best way to get to know a place. It’s also an opportunity to meet new people and learn about yourself. When you travel, you’re exposed to people from different cultures who live in different environments than yours–and that can be an eye-opening experience!

As someone who has lived in Australia for over two years now, I feel like I’ve learned so much about myself through traveling (and meeting new people). Here are some of my favorite experiences:

A taste of home in Australia

If you’re looking for a taste of home in Australia, there’s no better place than the pub. The local watering holes are filled with sports fans who love having a beer and cheering on their favorite teams. If you happen to be in Melbourne during the cricket season (November through March), then it’s likely that most bars will be showing live matches on their televisions!

Australia is also known for its multiculturalism–the country has people from all over the world working together as teammates, friends and neighbors. A great way to learn more about different cultures is through food–and nothing brings people together like sharing a meal!

Local experiences through new eyes

  • Try new things. If you are a person who likes to try new things and experience different cultures, then Australia is the place for you! There are thousands of different foods and customs that can be experienced here. You can try foods like Vegemite or fish and chips, which originated in England but became popularized in Australia. You could also visit some of the many festivals held throughout the year such as Mardi Gras or St Patricks Day parade.
  • Travel to new places: There are so many beautiful places around Australia that will make your jaw drop when you see them! Be sure not miss out on visiting Uluru (Ayers Rock) during sunset or going scuba diving off Kangaroo Island if those sound appealing!

Packing for a holiday to Australia

When packing for your trip to Australia, there are several things to consider. First and foremost, it’s important that you bring along clothing that allows you to blend in with the locals. Depending on where you’re going in Australia (and what time of year), this may mean wearing short shorts or long pants; flip flops or hiking boots; tank tops or hoodies.

Always remember: when in doubt about what clothes are appropriate for any given situation, ask yourself: “Would Steve Irwin wear this?” If yes: go ahead and pack it! If no… probably best not too wear that item on your trip Down Under!

Other items worth considering bringing along include sunscreen lotion (the Australian sun can be very strong), insect repellent spray (mosquitoes exist here), an umbrella (rain falls frequently during certain months), binoculars (because koalas live everywhere)

When it comes to food, there’s no holding back in Australia.

  • When it comes to food, there’s no holding back in Australia.
  • The country has a melting pot of international flavours and influences.
  • Australian cuisine is famous for being spicy and having a reputation for “big” food–think kangaroo burgers, crocodile kebabs and emu steaks (which are actually pretty delicious).
  • Australians love to barbecue–and not just on the beach! You’ll find countless businesses that specialize in serving up delicious grilled meats or seafoods cooked on open flames indoors or out (depending on weather conditions). If you’re feeling adventurous, try some succulent lamb ribs or pork belly at one of these places; if not then stick with something simpler like chicken breast or fish fillet cooked with lemon butter sauce. If you’re really hungry then order yourself an extra side dish–you won’t regret it!

Australia is a land of contrasts and contradictions.

Australia is a land of contrasts and contradictions. There are many examples of this, but here are some:

  • While Australia is a multicultural society, it has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world due to its location in the Southern Hemisphere.
  • The country has over 200 different dialects spoken by indigenous people, yet English is still the national language and an important part of daily life for all Australians.
  • Despite having one of the highest standards of living on Earth, Australia’s GDP per capita sits at number thirty-five globally (compared with New Zealand’s twenty-nine).

Experiences matter more than things

Experiences are more valuable than things.

The most important things in life aren’t the ones you own, but the experiences you have. The best experiences are shared with friends and family, not bought in stores. And these experiences can’t be replicated by buying something new; they’re unique to each individual and their circumstances at the time of their occurrence.

These moments don’t just add up to make us better people–they also shape our identity as individuals who have lived through them (and perhaps even changed some as a result).

Conclusion

If you’re planning a trip to Australia, be sure to pack light, but not too light. The country has so much to offer and you don’t want to miss out on any of it!
