Introduction
The United States is a country filled with history and culture. But it’s also one of the best places in the world for festivals. From music festivals to food festivals, there’s something for everyone! Let me show you some of my favorites:
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival is a 10-day music festival held in the spring. It’s the largest music festival in the world, with over 800 acts performing on multiple stages throughout New Orleans’ Fair Grounds Race Course.
The celebration of jazz and blues music is accompanied by food, crafts and culture from around Louisiana as well as other parts of America. The festival takes place over two weekends (April 26 – May 6) with an opening night parade on Wednesday April 25th followed by nightly concerts at 5pm until 11pm each day except Sunday when it ends at 9pm.
Burning Man
Burning Man is an annual event held in Black Rock City, Nevada. It’s a week-long celebration of community and art that takes place at the end of August or beginning of September. The event involves the burning of a large wooden effigy on Saturday evening, as well as numerous theme camps and art installations throughout the rest of the city.
Burning Man was started by Larry Harvey and Jerry James in 1986 when they created an experimental desert installation called ‘Burning Man’. In 1990 it became known as Black Rock City LLC after it incorporated as an LLC (limited liability company). Today, Burning Man operates through 7 subsidiary entities including Black Rock Arts Foundation which oversees art grants programs; Black Rock Treasures which sells merchandise such as ticket packages; Burning Man Project which manages operations like transportation services etcetera; BMHQ Incorporated which oversees communications with participants during events; BRC Services LLC which provides logistical support services like catering food trucks etcetera; LLC 6383621 dba “Black Rock City” d/b/a “Burning Man Festival” where all tickets sales are processed through this entity so they can collect taxes on behalf of other states where attendees may live.”
Indian Wells Classic Women’s Tennis Tournament
The Indian Wells Classic Women’s Tennis Tournament is a women’s tennis tournament held in Indian Wells, California. It is one of the four Premier Mandatory events on the WTA Tour, and it is the second most prestigious event on the Indian Wells tournament calendar (after the BNP Paribas Open).
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
Coachella is a multi-day music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. The event features many genres including rock, indie, hip hop and electronic dance music (EDM).
- The festival takes place over two weekends on consecutive weekends: April 12-14 and April 19-21.
- The first weekend of Coachella was held in 1999 with Rod Stewart headlining Saturday night followed by Rage Against the Machine on Sunday night.
- In 2001, Pearl Jam became the first band to play three consecutive shows at Coachella followed by Metallica who played four shows at Coachella 2007 through 2010; they played their fifth show in 2012 but only three songs due to singer James Hetfield having laryngitis so he could not sing during their performance which ended up being cancelled halfway through due to technical difficulties with keyboards not working properly for backup vocals needed for certain parts of songs like “Enter Sandman” or “Nothing Else Matters”.
Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival
The Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival is a three-day event held in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. It was started in 2008 and has grown to become one of the largest festivals in California, attracting over 70,000 people each year. The venue can hold up to 70,000 people at any given time so it’s important that you arrive early if you want to be sure that you get a good spot for the show!
The festival features music from all genres including rock, hip hop and electronic dance music (EDM). There are also food vendors selling everything from gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to Korean tacos! There are also art installations throughout the park which add another layer of creativity to this colorful event.
Lollapalooza music festival
Lollapalooza is one of the biggest music festivals in the country, and it takes place every year in Chicago. The festival is held over three days at Grant Park (located near Lake Michigan). This year’s dates are August 1-3, 2020.
If you’re thinking about attending Lollapalooza next year, here’s what you need to know:

The dates for Lollapalooza 2020 have yet to be announced; however, it usually occurs around mid-August each year. For example: In 2019, the festival took place from August 1-3; while in 2018 it was held from July 31 – August 2nd!
Bluesfest – Byron Bay, Australia
If you’re looking for a blues festival that’s as dedicated to music as it is to the environment, then Bluesfest is the place for you. This three-week event takes place annually in Byron Bay, Australia and has grown to become one of the biggest music festivals in Australia.
The first year was 1996 and has since grown into a world-class event featuring some of the biggest names in blues music including Buddy Guy and Bonnie Raitt who performed at this year’s festival alongside acts such as Gary Clark Jr., The Blind Boys Of Alabama and Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters.
Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts
Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts is an annual music festival held at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Somerset, England. The festival takes place across five full days, from Wednesday to Sunday. It was first held in 1970 and has been organised by founder Michael Eavis since then.
The Pyramid Stage is the main stage at Glastonbury Festival and has been designed as a circle with two sides for production purposes; one side faces into the audience and one side outwards towards the horizon so that both sides can be used depending on weather conditions or lighting requirements
Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas
The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is a 3-day electronic dance music festival held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the largest music festival in North America and has been called the “Carnival of the Future” due to its elaborate stages and carnival rides.
The first EDC was held in Los Angeles on June 20, 2011 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum with an estimated attendance of 80,000 people over two days. The following year it moved to Las Vegas where it has been held every June since 2012 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with an estimated attendance over 330,000 people each year.[1]

There are so many amazing festivals in the US! You can find festivals for every taste and interest, from niche to mainstream and everything in between. There are even some festivals that celebrate things you wouldn’t expect, like comic books or video games.
Festival season runs from spring through fall (and sometimes into winter), with most events taking place outdoors during warm weather months. Some festivals take place only once per year while others are annual events that repeat on a regular schedule; some last only one day while others go on for weeks or months at a time. Some festivals have admission fees while others are free; some attendees camp out on-site while others stay at nearby hotels or Airbnbs; some performances require tickets while others have an open audience attendance policy where anyone who wants can attend without paying anything extra beyond their ticket price if there’s space available when they arrive at the venue.*
